If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, you are in the right place! Read on for information about how to commission your own portrait of a favorite person, animal, or place!
Normally, I use photographs as references when painting. The photos can be those you take, or they can be photos my photographer or I take for an additional fee. Obviously, the better the reference photos, the better the portrait will be. When I see your photos, I will be able to determine whether I can paint a portrait using them as references. Because of copyright laws, I must have the permission of the photographer to use the photo for a painting.
When you send your photo(s), or if we use my photos, we will discuss the pose and other features of your painting. This can be done in person, by email, or by phone.
At this time, I can also give you an estimate of how long it will take to complete your painting. This estimate will depend on the complexity of the subject, how many other paintings are “in front” of yours in my schedule, and since painting is not my main occupation, work-related things that may interfere with painting. Generally, it takes me about 4 to 6 weeks to complete a painting, sometimes more, sometimes a little less.
I strive to paint not only the person or animal, but to capture the spirit of him/her. Since I may not know the person or pet, it would be very helpful if you could share information about him/her, such as likes, dislikes, favorite things to do, etc.
