Colored Pencils, Christmas Ornaments, and Holiday Commissions

A couple months ago, I came across a YouTube video showing an artist using colored pencils to draw animals and people. Of course, I have used colored pencils before, but hadn’t really done any “real” artwork with them in years and years. I got out my colored pencils and gave it a try. Colored pencil artwork goes slower than watercolor or pastels, so the size has been a little smaller than I normally work. I love the way they are not messy and you don’t need to get out a lot of supplies to use them. Here are some pieces with colored pencils that I feel pretty good about.

I’ve also been working on Christmas ornaments to sell this season. Here are some of my wood slice ornaments with original painting. This year, I have packaged some of them in fancy boxes to sell as a set of two or five ornaments. All of these below are for sale on my Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoyWallaceArtwork?ref=seller-platform-mcnav

I still have a couple of openings for portraits or pet portraits that can be done in time for Christmas. If you are interested, please let me know so we can get started!

New Artwork

I’ve been working on a pet portrait of a sweet cat, and it is finally finished and with its new owner. I took progress shots as I went along, so I thought I would make a little slideshow to show how the painting progressed. Here it is:

Here are the progress shots that are shown in the video. I hope you enjoy seeing how this beautiful cat looked along the way!
